The last few years have been tough for everyone. The Coronavirus pandemic, which has affected all areas of society, has added even more difficulties in the area of disability and people with dependency.
These new obstacles have emerged at both the professional and family levels. However, we have also lived through a learning periodwhere we have been discovering how technology can help us in the most difficult moments.
With this idea –and with the spirit of not just going back to the situation before March 2019, but of going beyond, towards a much better situation– the Fundación Romper Barreras (Breaking Barriers Foundation) presents the first international congress of assistive technology and augmentative communication: Breaking Barriers Congress (BBC Barcelona 2022).
This three-day event will be held in Barcelona from May 26 – 28, 2022. It will feature the top international experts in each area and the latest advances in assistive technology.
Topics will range from augmentative and alternative communication to leisure, environment control, and multisensory stimulation.
Three very complete days in which we will show the best technological solutions, which you will be able to interact with. And above all, you will learn about the best experiences in the application of technology for inclusion and participation.
We want you to be more than just mere spectators. We want you to participate. We want you to come away with countless suggestions that will improve the performance of your center or your association, but without neglecting the day-to-day life of the families.
Although this will be the first edition of the Breaking Barriers Congress, we will work to make this event a benchmark in Western Europe. If we succeed, we are convinced that we will manage to develop, promote, enhance, and facilitate the use of assistive technology and the accessibility improvements to the quality of life of people with disabilities and their environment.. That is the common goal we all have.
We look forward to seeing you in May 2022 in Barcelona
